Everyone’s style is unique – no two homes are alike. I’m sure you’ve noticed the stark difference between your parent’s house, your friend’s house, and maybe even the photos of celebrity homes splashed across the pages of People magazine. Whether someone leans more towards traditional, modern, transitional, contemporary, or farmhouse, everyone has their own style.

For me, one way to express my personality is through decorating. I love the soft, feminine and comfortable look of the cottage chic style. In addition, the rustic farmhouse smell strikes the right balance with men. I’ve always loved it, and when I brought it home I found a way to make it my own. However, cottage chic style often gives off a luxurious feel that my clients find too expensive. While the high end look is part of the appeal of cottage chic style, know that regardless of your budget, you can bring cottage chic to life in your home.

Decorating a cottage doesn’t have to cost a fortune. In this blog, I’ll show you how stylish bedroom wall decor ideas and the budget-friendly look I’m really looking for, in a price range that doesn’t require buying like I’m Oprah Winfrey. I’ll also share my favorite things with you so you can start your cottage chic style today!

No style is off limits when it comes to reflecting who you are in your home. Yes, there are multi-million dollar homes that can be difficult to restore without being too expensive (unless you want to use junk). However, if you want to put your own touch on the cottage chic style, you can be more creative with the bathroom decor you choose. Stick to budget-friendly items to make it happen!

Here are some of my own homemade recipes, along with home projects for inspiration and links to the exact products I use to help you spend less time researching. Go ahead with your update!

Patterned wallpaper is a great way to create a cottage look. As bedroom wall decor ideas go, this one gives you plenty of options to match your aesthetic while meeting your budget.

How To Create A Classic Cottage Garden

To stay in the cottage, choose a patterned theme that includes flowers, plants and small patterns. Using this type of molding is a great way to add dimension to a room and give it a completely new look. If wallpapering an entire room is out of your budget, you can save money by wallpapering just the ceiling or by wallpapering a smaller space like a closet or behind the bookshelf.

Paint is the easiest design tool on a budget. Make sure to use the right color to get a unique look that makes your design stand out. It will also set your aesthetic apart from other design styles like the farmhouse look – which is based on neutral colors. Using blues and greens is a great way to start experimenting with a chic color palette for your space.

For a living room, although I did not use blue and green (although I experimented with them), I used dirty colors that give the room a high feeling. I highly recommend using Sulking Room Pink by Farrow and Ball when trying to achieve this look! It perfectly complements the floral motifs and decorative styles throughout the home. That’s why it’s important to play with colors and find your match. You never know what color will surprise you! For 2023 we are looking at richer colors like reds and browns that I can’t wait to use!

If you don’t take anything else from this blog, I promise to at least remember: decorating is one of the main ways to get a stylish look. The best part? This is a cottage style home decor that you can make yourself. And since you can make your own, it opens up a variety of different home decorations that you can use to make it your own.

How To Plan A Cottage Garden

Consider vertical panels such as shiplap, beadboard, chair rail, crown molding, and more. The sky is the limit. You can even install different types of trimwork to get a custom look. Still don’t understand what I mean? Check out how I got creative with trimwork to create a budget-friendly look throughout my home:

Avoiding gray and gray woods instantly warms up the room and gives it a cottage feel. Think antique furniture, walnut colors and rich woods to mix with more modern pieces.

Whether you’re in the nursery or the dining room, you’ll see how I’ve combined several warm wood tones to create this feeling.

My final tip for creating a cottage chic look on a budget is to add a throw with pillows and blankets. A simple pillow, whether firm or soft, can make a big difference in changing a space and adding texture and layering to certain areas. See how the blankets and pillows add to the cottage feel in my bedroom. It’s the perfect balance between visual appeal and a functional item for you and your family.

Cottage chic sure sounds like a chic style for Architectural Digest, but I hope this blog will help you see that you can achieve the look you want without breaking the bank. Your wallet will thank you.

By being strategic about your wallpaper and color choices, you can pull off this European-inspired style with ease! With easy DIY decor, warm wood accents, and a few pillows and blankets thrown into the mix, you can give your home a luxurious feel without breaking the bank.
